In my opinion, social media is useful with the proper use. Social media can connect us with our friends / relatives who are away, especially those who are abroad. It can help us in searching topics for school, like in searching for audience's reaction in things. Social medias is also a way for the Philippines to update you with the latest news; if you miss the news in the television, or want to be updated, without social media you'll find a very hard time in looking for the latest news. Social media can make you be responsible like being more conscious in what you're saying or posting. It teaches us to think twice before we do are say anything.
In other hand, if you don't use it properly you may post something bad and people will judge you. The people may think that you're irresponsible and that reflects your parents. They may blackmail you, spread rumours and gossips, and your friends may even stay away from you. Aside from that, if you do not use social medias wisely, you might see something inappropriate. As for me, I believe that social media is not harmful with the proper care because not all social medias are bad, some of them may even be useful for school.

Social media can benefit us in many different ways. One example is communication. Now, it is easier to send messages to our friends and family. Messages are received instantly. And the one receiving the message can also reply quickly. Getting information that you need for school also became easier. My parents told me that it is easier to do research now compared to when they were younger when they used to spend so much time in the library looking for information that they needed. Now, all you have to do is type in what you’re looking for and there are countless websites that have the information that you need. But social media can also harm us because there are a lot of postings that are not true. It is easy for anyone to make up stories to embarrass or spread rumors about other people and post it on the internet. Social media can reach a lot of people quickly, and most of the people reading these stories don’t even bother to check if it’s real.
Social media teaches me social responsibility when it comes to posting and to not believe everything I read. Stories that you see on the internet needs to be verified and proven to be true.As a daughter and a friend, social media affects me by not spending more time with my parents and friends. Instead I’m always on my phone or laptop surfing the internet. Social media and surfing can also affect my studies by wasting my time on the computer instead of doing all my school work first. The internet is a valuable tool if used properly and responsibly. It is very helpful especially to us students when doing our work. But like everything, we need to use the internet in moderation and not forget that there are also a lot of things we can learn from our parents, friends and people around us.

Social media can affect our lives in a good and bad way. Some of the good ways it helps us is that we can keep in touch with relatives that are abroad, It can help you stay updated with news, and more. Some bad effects are having fights because someone misunderstood a post, stalking, other people could hack into your account, sharing personal information to strangers, and cyber-bullying. For me, it makes me think more about what I'm going to post because once you posted something, you cannot take back what you said. Unlike in real life, you can easily apologize. Social Media seems to take up some of my family and study time, which is not that good. But it does help me talk to my friends when they are away and it can help you stay in touch with someone.
For me, I think that social media should only be used for school related things. We have to cherish our lives by living in the moment and not while behind a phone. We have to spend time with our families because when theyre gone, we will be full of regret. Sometimes, I would wonder what were the things I could've done during the summer instead of Internet. The feeling of looking back and regretting not doing something is very unforgettable, so now I try to minimize my use of social media. Since you only live once, go and explore the world, cherish every moment, and enjoy your lives.

In experience, having social media accounts has both good and bad things that affects me in different ways. Having social media accounts has made me distracted some times, but most of the time having them helped me since I can ask help easily from my friends and classmates. Besides that, I was able to understand more on the things that I thought were "facts" or the truth. I had my first account when I was eight, and my parents made sure that I will be aware about my surroundings, liking pages that talks about the news nationwide and global. Because of this, I was able to take advantage of what I am learning by making sure that I try do more good than wrong. Apparently, one of these things are my responsibilities on being a netizen. Before, and until now, my friends will always say that I say sorry a lot of times just because I thought I was bothering them whenever I will ask a question, whether it is related to school or not. Maybe before, I will often see my classmates asking for help, but not saying "thank you" or "sorry for disturbing you", when I was still in lower school. Probably, I never wanted my classmates to feel like I was just joking with them or using them to my advantage in school. No one wants and deserves to become a tool that is only used when someone needs them.
Now, as a daughter, I think having social media accounts affects what I am supposed to do in ways that I tend to forget that I am to show a good example to my younger siblings, and that I should respect the ones who are older than me. As a friend, social media helped me, because my friends live, around, 15 minutes, and above, away from where I live. Meeting up with them also becomes a challenge since we have to make sure everyone is alright with this venue, this time, etc. Communicating with them becomes easier, and that also helps when it comes to communicating my relatives who are far from where I am. As a student, it both benefits me and harms me in ways. It benefits me in a way that group projects becomes easier, we are able to ask help from our classmates, and that we are also able to find out more of what our lessons are. But, like most students, we are easily tempted that having social media accounts becomes a distraction from what we are supposed to finish.

Social Media is both harmful and beneficial for us. It is beneficial because it helps us communicate with each other easily and access information with just a click. It is harmful for us in an ironic way, social media is supposed to help us communicate with each other but sometimes it prevents us from doing so. Most of the time we are so engrossed with our gadgets that it is almost like our "Second Reality". A reality where we can alter our imperfections and display a "better" version of us. Social Media does affect our lives mainly because of the freedom we get from it, we get to see our friend's daily life and their likes and dislikes and their problems (which are not supposed to be displayed publicly) and then we get to judge them too quickly. Sometimes Social Media glamorizes mental illness and people think it's the new "cool" thing to do without even thinking how serious mental illnesses are. Social Media also teaches us responsibility, for example when we post something that isn't supposed to be posted we have to be responsible for it and apologize to the people who were offended. When we post about something we also have to rethink it before posting it, we have to be conscious on what we post because there are other people who might get affected by it or people who are sensitive that maybe wouldn't be pleased about your post. In my opinion Social Media wouldn't be harmful if we control ourselves from using it too much. We shouldn't rely on Social Media to be our new Social life or it to be our new Alternate Reality. Maybe we could use our gadgets less and talk to people more. Maybe to interact with our family members or bond with our friends instead of burning our time in the internet. We should live our lives actually living it, with our body moving, our mouth talking, and our senses sensing. We shouldn't live our life behind a computer making up goals instead of working on them.

As a grade 8 student, Social Media plays an important role in my life. It opened up many doors in discovering and learning new information. It also became a medium to interact with others and stay in touch. Social Media has lots of pros and cons but in my opinion the pros outweighed the cons. Communicating became so much easier with Social Media. For example, if we have a project in school instead of the usual meet up we can just create a group chat and discuss everything there. Of course there are also cons like issues with privacy and security but I believe that being a responsible user will solve these problems. Thinking before posting is a must to avoid embarrassing yourself, being misinterpreted or hurting others.
As a Social Media user, I know I should be responsible with whatever I share online . I should always consider my family, my school and my own integrity in whatever I post. If i didn't have Social Media accounts, I'm sure I would feel out of touch with the world around me. I know there are other means to be socially aware like reading the newspaper or watching television but Social Media makes everything faster, easier and very convenient to all of its users. Those who have accounts are usually staring at the screen all day long which means less human interaction. Its really up to you how you would make social media work to your advantage. Definitely I would create one in the future because it transformed the way people share ideas and interact with each other. It surely revolutionalized the way information is shared, how we connect with others and your way of life.

Social media is the 21st century's main medium of communication. It lets you talk with others and voice out your feelings to the public. Despite all these benefits, there are harmful things that can happen to us in using social media too much or not being aware of the things that might happen. A lot of things had happened in the past even if social media sites were just starting their careers. A lot of cases happened that may be minor, such as showing disrespect to someone through his or her status update, or something really big like somebody being murdered by someone he or she met in the internet. That is why, through social media, I learned how to be responsible of myself and to be safe. I remember my parents always telling me to never accept friend requests of people I don't know and to never message back strangers. I realized that their condition kept me safe in the internet and I hope other people who have social media accounts would be responsible too for the safety of the whole community. Social media benefits me because it becomes a medium of communication that is really accessible and effortless. It lets you know what's happenning around you and how you could respond to such situations. To me, it serves more of a benefit because I learn a lot of things from my friends, websites, and different links that are posted. Using social media, made me learn how to filter what I see, and be more mature in the way I act. Another benefit social media gives me is the ability to research easily. It gives you a lot of answers in less than a minute. But again, I filter what I see so that I can save time. Having social media in my opinion, doesn't really affect me as an individual, nor it affects my duty as a daughter and friend. In fact, I can make more friends in the internet and meet new people. Although sometimes, I get to distracted in the internet, so control is really needed especially for young students like me. I believe that with the right control and usage of social media, it could become a happy, and safe place for the entire world to enjoy. I agree with Maxine , like what spiderman said " with great power comes great responsiblity." Social media is a powerful and effective tool in sharing information and connect with others. But it also comes with great responsiblity, meaning you should be aware of the effects of whatever you share or comment online. Always think before you click.

Annielov is right, social media is not harmful with proper care. We should be grateful that we have technology now to help us with our daily issues like school work. My mom would always tell me how hard it was for them to research during their time, how they had to go to the library for information. Fortunately for us we just search and click and we have information overload. But again we should always be responsible with whatever we share , comment or post online. It always reflects on us, our family and even our school. Social media should be used for the good and not to harm or degrade others.

I agree, many of the people (including myself) I know end up having to cram because they use their time improperly (in other words, procrastinating) on social media. Priorities are meant to be first, not entertainment.

You can expect that when a person is holding out a phone and eyes are fixated on it, they are probably checking their social media accounts, whether it is on the streets, classrooms, or restaurants. Social media is the most prevalent way to promulgate opinions and information, update oneself with current issues, and basically, connect with people. As an 8th grader, having social media accounts make communicating with my friends about school and other personal matters much easier. I think that it mostly benefits me due to its advantages such as a way of learning information about particular political and social issues resulting to becoming more socially competent and educated.
However, social media accounts do not always just exist with advantages. Like all things, even social media has disadvantages that affect my status and roles as a daughter, friend, and student because social media takes up most of my time away from actual human interaction. If I did not have social media accounts, it would probably open my eyes up with a different perspective of how involved everyone is with social media and realize that there is much less personal human interaction compared to a world with no social media. In terms of my overall perspective on the topic, social media accounts offer a disadvantage on relationships, but also an advantage in communication and information promulgation. Lastly, no matter how important social media is to society, I do not think we should forget that we must personally spend time with the people we love and turn off our gadgets during this period.

As a Grade 8 student, having a social media account is a true distraction. Social media sites are slowly taking over everyone's minds, and everyone is being discouraged to study and do their homeworks. I feel like it benefits us more than harms us because as of now, we are being taught netiquette and proper use of ICT, which can be a hindrance of any chaos whatsoever. Social media can cause us to be more socially insensitive because a lot of people think that you're anonymous on the internet, and that you can do/say whatever you want to without any hesitation, even if you really aren't.
On a scale of 1-10, i feel like having a social media account is a 5, because it isn't a necessity nor something you don't need. Having these accounts can teach you many things alone, and it makes you reach out and connect to distant people. My family has social media accounts, and i have observed that they are quite updated with many events and news, which is another advantage of having these accounts. Having a social media account can also "prolong your existence.", and what that means is that when you are gone, your social medial account can stand as yourself, and as silly as it sounds, people will still feel your presence.
