As a grade 8 student, having social media accounts will be helpful to me because it connects me with my friends, teachers, classmates and most especially my family. It also helps me to research fast and easy with my home works and other projects needed in school. Having social media accounts benefits me a lot than harm because it keeps my connection with my friends and family and it helps me to be responsible in all activity using the internet. I make sure that the location mode is not on and also i am very careful on what i am posting. As a daughter, my parents assure me that i am responsible with the rules of using the internet. Being connected in the social media with my friends help me to be aware of posting things that can affect their feelings and as a student, it allows me to know the assignments when i'm absent. If i don't have social media accounts but my friends has then i'll not be updated with all the projects posted and i'll have a hard time communicating with others. If my mother allowed me to make a account in the internet then it will be easier for me to connect with my friends and family. There are also disadvantages in making a social media account like someone can get your private informations by just searching your name, so always make sure that you shouldn't give or post some informations about you, especially the technology nowadays has been improved and upgraded. It is a very nice explanation of how social media is helpful to you.

Some say that social media are the online technologies and practices that people use to share their opinions, insights and experiences. For me, social media is a very effective tool.In my life because I always refer to this in making my assignments, most specially the difficult ones. It always kees me updated with the current events here and abroad. I am very positive that social media benefits me more, this made me a more efficient and responsible student by not posting anything that can harm me or my family, at the same time not giving negative comments on others. As a daughter with a dad working out of the country, I use this by communicating with him frequently. Several friends and relatives have their own social media accounts and their expressing positive comments on it. I will definitely create a social media account because this will make me a better person if I will use this correctly. I like how you express your thoughts in understanding social media.

Having social media accounts has somehow already been part of my social life. Social media helps us in many ways, and the use of it is more needed nowadays for faster communication, researching and other things you may consider. I believe that Social Media comes in really handy. For me, social media has helped me be updated for my friend's upcoming birthdays, for the new trends in our generation, the things happening in our country, in school, help me keep the connection with friends, relatives who are far and so on. Though i have not experienced any bad cause of it yet, i believe that as users of the social media, we have to be responsible in posting tweets or photos, updating statuses, commenting on pictures and opinions posted/said by other users. We should also be sensitive enough to know if what we are about to post is really relevant, and if not, then why post it? Be sensitive enough to know what is really happening in your surroundings, the country, school or friends and not just relying on what other people's opinions are. And we should also be smart enough to judge whether the stated opinion is really true or not.
Social Media affects me as a daughter, friend, sister and as a person, by being mature enough to know what is right and not being influenced by the wrong ones. I believe that social media has affected relationships, attitudes and actions in many different ways already. It can either be a good effect or a bad one. And as a daughter, i stay obedient to my parents' orders like if they would not want me to have this social media account, then i would not make one. Because i believe that they only want whats best for me and they want me to stay away from possible harm in that site or app. As a friend i have been more socially sensitive to what my friends feel. I am giving more importance to their opinions now and their feelings towards something more than i did before. I think that through social media, despite the things mistakes i have probably done in the past, social media has molded me into being a better person, to be more careful of my actions, of how i think, of what i will say, and of what i will do.

Having no social media account, I have observed from friends an families that social media has become a way of life for them in our modern society. It has provided them with a range of benefits including easier communication and faster delivery of news not only from our country but from around the globe as well. Social media has also promoted, to my friends and family members, the qualities of a good netizen and real world citizen such as being responsible, empathetic, polite, and respectful. Social media, however, also has some negative effects to them, physically, mentally and emotionally. Friends and family tend to become too dependent on social media to the extent that they could not last a single day without it. Cyber bullying and constant criticism from others is also a serious factor on their emotional behavior having the possible effect of degrading their confidence. Poor eyesight and decreased physical activity is also a negative effect I have seen in my family due to the constant use of social networking.
I would consider creating an account in the future for the purposes of communication and adjusting to the trend of our modern society. Creating an account would also help me in school related tasks and assignments, give a wider scope of the world and it would also be a good means for expressing myself and my creativity. Social media would also be a good medium for socialization and developing my personality. Being exposed to others' opinions and beliefs in social media will enhance my understanding of how each person has a different view of our world. Social Media may have a lot of negative effects on our society but not having an account on social media, for me, would outweigh all of those hindrances since in this age of information technology, not being able to adapt to our present world would be one of the greatest mistake of all.
I believe that criticisms would only affect us if we allow it to do so. Sometimes the insults thrown to you in social media can also help you become a better and stronger person. You would know how to react better towards criticism and accept the fact that the world is full of different opinions and that you yourself cannot be perfect. It is really nice that you have a good view of social media even if you do not have any account. It is good that from your opinions you know the advantages and the disadvantages already so that you would be more careful when you get to have your own already.

My social media accounts have been really useful these days, now that technology are almost used everywhere. It teaches me to be a responsible user, for example, when I log in my account on Facebook, I see a friend request but I don't know who the person is, I just ignore the request and continue what I was doing. It affects me as a daughter when I go to my grandparents' house every week days and our printer is broken, I use Yahoo to send it to my dad for it to be printed. As a friend, when my friends and I need help in homework, we use Oovoo or Viber so that we could communicate at home. As a student, when I am absent, I use Facebook to ask for the things I missed and for homework. It is good that you are responsible enough to know who to accept and who not to accept. I also agree that the websites/apps you mentioned are really handy when we have school related works!

For me, social media has affected me in both positive and negative ways. I considered social media being a easier way to communicate with classmates to ask for missed homework's whenever you are absent. Social media makes group projects easier to handle because we can all elaborate on in even at home so that we can maximise the time allotted to the group project. Social media makes us students learn new things. In a click of a mouse, you can open various websites where you can find answers to the questions you have in mind. Social media is a cheaper way to communicate with friends and family. Texting and calling require money to use but with the internet, you only have to pay for it once then have it for around 2 years or more! So you don't just save money, but also make your "chikahan" with your friends longer and have a greater time with them. Social media is also a way to stay updated with the news all around the globe. From showbiz, to weather, and to sports, websites like Facebook, Twitter, and even Instagram can keep you updated with them. I can go on and on; on why social media is very much a big help in our generation but I would want to stop here because those were the major points I wanted to elaborate on. Even though social media has many many advantages, there are also negative effects on using social media.
In our generation almost everyone has a social media account and everyone stares at their phones from the moment they wake up to the moment they fall asleep. This does not only ruin our eye sight, but it also makes our days "unproductive" and it is another way to waste our time here on Earth. Social media also prevents students from studying because they spend too much time one their phones and forget to study for their tests or do homework. Social media is also a way to become irresponsible because instead of students copying the homework on their planners, they just depend on someone else to tell them what tests and activities we have for the next day. Through my experiences, I've noticed that many quarrels can develop when you talk to someone a lot in social media because you learn things about that person that may annoy you or may be something unpleasant or not nice so you sometimes get mad or frustrated with them then an argument will then arrive. People type and type and type without thinking about how they sound like. In social media, you don't know the person's tone or feelings when they sent that message and so it will lead to a misunderstanding and most of the time it will lead to a quarrel again. The only way we can avoid these is by knowing our limits with social media and how much time we will spend using it, what to click and not to click, to learn to be sensitive of others, and by distinguishing our responsibilities to our "wants" in life.

Also, adding the point that you father works abroad definitely sealed your statement because you wanted to assure us that social media is a big help in communication. :-)

I think social media has affected my life so much in many ways. For example in my ways of communication I don't ask for people's numbers anymore, I would ask if they have facebook and if I could chat with them there. Having social media for me is a great advantage because it helps us socialized infront a screen or in the real world, we get to find new friends and get to share our experiences, the sad thing is that now technology is evolving so are the crimes in social media or the internet itself. One of the many disadvantages of social media is that we could easily be tricked because we do not know the person we are talking to, sometimes those strangers could mean good or bad. Sad thing but the truth is social media sometimes is not the safest place in the internet world. A piece of advice think before you do anything in the social media accounts that you have because you could be a target of those bad people in those sites. I agree! Social media does help us socialise with people more because there are some people who are very shy but through social media, you can express your feelings and socialize easier. But yes like what you said, there are various crimes being committed online and it is not the safest place in the internet so everyone should take in your advice that says we should think before you do anything. :-)

I think that social media as a whole has affected me in different ways but more on positive effects. this definitely teaches me to be more responsible online especially because we all have a habit of posting how we feel or what we're doing and considering that a lot of people will be able to see what we post, there is a higher risk of other people stalking or targeting you as a victim of specific online related crimes. we have to be careful because there are a lot of people with bad intentions online and posting something about yourself can harm not only you but the people around you too. Social media as a student, helps me in ways like getting the homework from my friends online or having forums like this in able for you and other people to collaborate in school related activities. As a friend, i am able to see what my other friends are up to, and talk about.i am able to share to other people how i feel and what i have been recently doing. As a daughter, considering my mom travels a lot, social media helps me to talk to her while she is abroad or not at home. I agree on what you said about teaching and helping us to be more responsible online because like what you said, we always post about ourselves and about personal things which can put ourselves in danger. :-)

As a Grade 8 student social media affects me in different ways. As a daughter my parents are very over protective over me. They don't allow me to make accounts on websites they think are not appropriate yet for me to use. For example they don't think I am responsible enough to go on websites such as Facebook, twitter or Instagram. But they allow me to use snapchat, viber and pinterest. I personally think social media is very useful for students because nowadays teachers usually give tests or homework through social media or with the use of a computer. But on the other hand social can also be as harmful to students as it is useful.
Social media has harmed some students because through social media strangers can access your account, they can stalk you, they can also find out very personal information about you that they can use against you and most of all Cyber bullying. My experience observing family members and classmates who have social media is that they are very dependent on the internet and social media for news, celebrity updates, weather forcasts, and most of all students usually use social media to ask for homework, schoolwork,or tests they have missed and of coarse for communication. When i am of age to create a facebook account or an instagram account I would but I would be very careful of what I will say or post on my account. I will be responsible of my own safety on the internet.

Social media has affected me both negatively and positively. To the negative side, I feel that I am slightly addicted to it due to it's overflowing amount of entertaining content and positively by helping me with my various schoolwork and find information that could help me in life. Social Media can harm us in many ways but it does benefit us in so many levels. It helps us with school and makes searching for topics and info much more easier than before. I believe that social media helps us to be socially responsibility since you meet so many types of people and you learn to cope with them.
The Internet helps me become a good daughter by helping me be more socially active and not to be afraid to voice opinions, It helps me become a better friend by helping me learn new things and interests that help me gain friends, and as a student I see that information is pretty hard to come by these days and so the internet makes it so much easier. If I didn't have social media, I think I would be a very shy and quiet girl because the internet taught me to be confident in my own words. It would also affect me greatly because I wouldn't know what would happen in various countries by the news. Sure, the internet sounds great but many disadvantages can come from the internet itself such as bullying and loss of concentration on certain things. It kinda a win-win situation in a sense.

As a grade 8 student, social media has affected me in a way that I get to communicate easily with my family and friends which I find very helpful. Also social media helps me in submitting my projects to my teachers like through Edmodo. And social media for me has already become a part of my life growing up. As a daughter of my parents, they expect me to be responsible when creating a social media account because, I was to only visit sites that were right for my age, also to post things on social media that are appropriate. And throughout my experience of having social media accounts, I've learned that not everyone behind their phones, and computers were who you think they are because some of these people could be stalkers and they may also be able to harm you. That is why we were taught to not talk to strangers online or give too much personal information about yourself.
Having social media accounts also helped me to not just be socially active through the internet but also outside of the screen. It helped me to be more updated with the things that happen everyday if ever I didn't get to watch the news, also to be updated with what happens to my friends and family. And lastly for me social media is both harmful and beneficial for us students and we just need to be careful and be mindful of the things that can happen to us through the internet.
