Having a social media account affects people in many different ways but it really depends on what type of person you are. Social media changes us, in good and bad ways which also depend on how we use social media for ourselves and others. On social media, we have what we call cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying is a way of threatening and abuse made over the use of internet and websites. Many people have experienced this whether it is as a celebrity or just as a person who was persuaded by their friends to make a social media account. In my opinion, I had never experienced cyber-bullying but I know that it could be as small as calling people names to threatening them to even go far and kill themselves. It benefits me in a decent way because I have actually managed to talk and make friends with people through the internet over the things we like together. In my experience, social media has actually taught me to be aware of things like feminism, racism and many other things that I would have never cared or even thought about. Social media has changed me as a daughter, friend and student by helping me get closer and being able to do things easier because I can simply communicate with people now with just a click. As a Grade 8 student, social media has affected me in a good way because now it is much easier to talk and ask my classmates about what had happened in class if I were absent but it has also affected me in a not so good way by distracting me when I had more important things to do especially if it as about or for school. I personally think that social media could last as long as decades if people just keep using it and even making more websites whether they would be for the good or the bad. And like said by many people, we are the Digital Age. Nothing would be able to stop us from using all these different types of technology whether it would be in the form of a gadget or an internet trend or even a simple post you could find online. I agree that Social Media has taught us about a lot of things like being aware of feminism, racism, and equality. Although the internet teaches us about these things, I also agree with you that we should be careful about cyber-bullying and abuse.

"Having social media account affects people in different ways it just depends if it is good or bad and how much that post affects you.I think social media harms you more than it benefits you because there are more things that could harm while using social media like cyber-bullying,random strangers that ask personal questions and getting hacked or spammed. Also because there is a study that more students like my age that are gets bullied more by using the social media than physically. And also its not just students and regular people gets harmed using the internet, also celebrities because some people probably get jealous or because they became popular that's why they give mean comments to them. For my opinion I think social media teaches me more about social responsibility because first, you should be aware on what are you clicking, posting or whatever action your doing while using the internet. And because you should think what could happened if you post this or that. Social media presence affects me as a daughter and as a friend in a good way because I can communicate with them anytime. And also social media presence also affects me as a student also in a good way because I can learn more ideas using the social media like life hacks, DIY'S, daily news and interesting facts." I also think that social media can harm you more than it can benefit you

I believe that having social media accounts affect us through being able to freely express ourselves without having to do so in our actual lives. I take having social media accounts as a good thing for it is a way of leisure for me, I get to be updated with the latest news or trends, I get to connect to people whom I may not be able to communicate with in actual life because they may be far away or busy, and I myself, get to share what I am feeling through tweets, status updates, and even through pictures. However, these can affect others differently than how it affects me, some people get addicted to these for they don't have the ability to limit their time online, some people post inappropriate things which do not do them or the people who see it any good. In shorter words, I believe that it is a benefit for me however it may be doing more harm than good for others. In my opinion, I think that social media teaches us to be more socially insensitive rather than be socially responsible, however I'm not saying that this is their initial mission I just think that starting fights and doing all these wrong things are easier to do on the internet. On the internet, we can be anonymous and leave hate on someone simultaneously, meaning we can insult someone without them knowing who we are, it's like stealing all the cookies from the cookie jar without anyone knowing, it's all the glory without the consequences. Even if we start a fight on the internet, we cannot get physically hurt unlike if we do so in actual life. We are tempted to be reckless on the internet because we know that it is easier to do so compared to doing it in real life. As a daughter, it allows me to be able to actively connect with my relatives and share my knowledge to my parents who refuse to have social media accounts, I get to update my parents with my uncles and aunts who do have Facebook, I can let my Aunt in California have a videochat with my Mother on Skype, I can let my Uncle in Guam joke with my Dad through Facebook message like in the old times. I also get to search things for them when they are curious about something online. As a friend, I get to post pictures and memories with my other friends, I can tweet something good about them, and I can also like their Instagram photos, I get to be updated with what they're up to especially if they're from other schools and I get to help my classmates who don't understand a certain topic. As a student, we use Edmodo where we can submit our homework and check for updates and reminders from our teachers. In other words, I believe that my presence on social media is an advantage through most aspects of my life.

Having social media accounts could affect our life in several different ways, good or bad. There are disadvantages and advantages of having a social media account. Some disadvantages would include cyber-bullying, distraction from studies, losing the ability to communicate and interact face to face, and being exposed to inappropriate content which could influence one's thinking and values. Without having the proper knowledge about Internet Etiquette, the digital environment of the said individual may be rather unruly and unbecoming of the standards Miriam College provides for its students. Apart from the disadvantages of having a social media account, there are also advantages. Some of which are bringing loved ones together, improving the individual's social life, an easy way to maintain connections, and it being an easily accessible educational tool for pupils. The vast breadth of the internet enables people to connect with their loved ones living as far as continents away. It also gives us ease in conversing with peers in any given situation. But most importantly, a platform for our learning community to build upon and develop is provided by all the knowledge already stored in the internet, making it easier for this generation of more technologically advanced individuals to attain a higher level of intellect as the previous one. I believe that social media could affect us in both good and bad ways, relying on how we use it. We should use social media correctly and be aware of our actions in order to influence others about the responsible use of ICT. I agree that our generation will have higher chances of being more advanced in terms of technology for we have more exposure to it.

Social media has changed me in a lot of ways.In my case, social media can sometimes be a form of distraction or a form of learning. As I stated earlier, it comes in two opposing forms but most of the times, I benefit from it. Through social media, I can talk to long-distant friends or relatives through a web-cam instantly . Besides it giving me an easier time with communication, I learn more ways, tips and advises on how to use networks more intelligently through the influence brought by the people I usually see on my account timeline. I go through it daily and the people usually post relevant and smart content I actually learn new details from. Though sometimes, horrible content is posted, I do not let it occupy my mind. I focus on the good and positive things I saw. As a daughter, my social media accounts do not affect my responsibilities because I know my limits. I know when I can use it and I know when to stop even without my parents warning me to do so. As a friend, having social media is a big help because I can ask for help anytime from them. As a student, it's the same with how it affects me as a daughter and at some points social media has helped me with school, specifically in passing homeworks. All in all, social media is very essential for me. If it never existed, communicating would be a lot harder. Without it, we would be writing letters all the time and before it reaches the person you want to contact, you still have to fill out long forms just to do so and the letter usually reaches the receiver after a long time unlike social media, after you click the enter button, the message has been sent in less than five seconds. All you need to do while using your accounts is to apply what you've learned about social media etiquette and you're good to go! *most of the time

Yes, I strongly agree that social media has hindered a lot of people in expressing their thoughts.

I, myself, admit that I use more than 5 social medias a day for entertainment and communication with friends and family. Although these keep me from being boring, there are many disadvantages a social media can have. Social medias can affect our lives depending on how we use it it may be good or bad. Having a social media account takes a lot of responsibility and discipline especially when posting and commenting. For my opinion, I think it harms us more than it benefits us because there are many people who hacks, asks personal information, and a lot more, even though at times it entertain us and let us interact with our loved ones. Even if we say it actually brings happiness in our lives, we don't know what can happen.. We don't know what will happen in the future.
Social medias teach us responsibility and discipline especially in what we post and comment on our and others' pictures/posts. Social medias affect me as a daughter, friend and a student by actually thinking about what others think about me. Social medias also affect my grades because it can be a distraction to my studies. Whenever people send hates on me, I think about them all day that I couldn't concentrate and focus in school. It also affects my attitude on how I become very careful of what I say, think and feel. We shouldn't be insensitive with others' feelings because they're humans too and they have feelings too. If you, yourself, sometimes get hurt or offended with what others tell you, I believe that others, too, get hurt. Each and everyone of us in this world deserves to be respectful and respected. We were made equally, no greater, no lesser. I hope that everyone gets to have the respect they deserve because we all have the rights to be respected. I prefer, for others, not to create anymore because it will do further harm on us especially on social medias when we don't know who sent us a message (an example is ask.fm). Even though at times when people say it's actually "cool" to have a social media, I don't think that these days? It's cool? No, it's not. Although it can be our entertainment, it lets us communicate with others, games, and others, I believe it can also lead us to danger, insensitiveness, not being respectful and it can also lead us to being kidnapped. Do not give any personal information, password, pictures that aren't appropriate, and do not open sites that aren't suitable for your age.
Welcome to reality, everyone.

Having a social media account could affect people many ways, good or bad it depends on how you use it. Social media could benefit us and harm us like i said its on how you use it. These are the advantages of having a social media account: we could easily communicate with other people even if their far away from you, you can learn new things in social media and others more. These are the disadvantages of having a social media account: children could be easily distracted and they could secretly get hurt because they might be a victim of cyber-bullying, people are sometimes insensitive of what they say in social media and some people might be offended and etc. As a grade 8 student social media has affected me in a good way because i experience being absent once and i know i will have a hard time to know what i missed if i didn't have an account, so having an account can not always be bad it depends on the person.

Like everything else in the world, Social Media can be an advantage or a disadvantage. Social media helps people communicate with each other. If you can’t talk with this certain person face-to-face, you would just have open a social media site then you’ll be able to text, call, or even have a video chat. But then, Social Media can harm us. Some people make mistakes when they use Social Media like accidentally posting personal information. These people would be greatly harmed since there are some people with terrible intentions who could hack into your accounts and gather everything about you. Your information would go viral and that isn’t good at all. I observed that social media changes me. Whenever I am at home and I start using Social Media sites, I don’t spend that much time with my family. It sometime stops me and my friends from bonding when we have a hangout. Instead of actually conversing, sometimes we just stare at our gadgets. At rare times, it even makes me neglect my homework. Without social media, I bond with my friends and family much more and I would be able to focus with schoolwork more often. Social Media should be used in moderation. It only bites when it isn’t used carefully and correctly. It helps me become more socially responsible. I may not be online that much but I have never posted something bad about someone I know. Ranting or posting awful things is never the right thing to do. Remember, how you treat others will be how others will treat you. Would you want to be treated in a terrible manner?

Social media affects our lives by giving us opportunities to respond and communicate with other people. For me, it harms me more than it benefits me because sometimes you are able to read statements, articles, and posts. which you thought was true but its more of a bad influence. And also, most of the time, we put social media first as a priority. It divides time we have for our loved ones.
Social media teaches me to be more socially insensitive because, as what ive said, we mostly open our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. before doing our homework, studying for incoming tests and exams. Doing that gives you less time for studying. There is a chance as well for you to get tired, sleepy, lazy, etc. because you spent almost all of your time for using social media. Social media affects me as a daughter because it divides time I have for my family. I know when to stop. As soon as I see something posted that is inappropriate, I immediately close it. As a friend and as a student, it is also big help because you can mostly ask help from them if ever you need something.

Social Media is not just any other thing because it can cause a lot of things, negatively and positively. The effect depends on your actions. It’s always your choice if you'll use it for the better or the worse. Every time we use it we are already responsible for whatever the outcome would be, it was never someone else's responsibility but ours. For students, every time we use it usually serves as a distraction. Instead of us doing our HWs or reviewing for any quizzes of tests we tend to use the internet for entertainment and for inter acting with other people. This is the part when it becomes dangerous, in this era there are already a lot of cases that includes cyber-crime and the victims are usually students. We tend to be the ones who make our problem but we just don't realize it, we only realize it when we have already seen the outcome and instead of fixing it we end up blaming it on others. Have you ever asked yourself, "why did I even do it?" and when we do, we don't even know how to answer it. Every time we use it we should always think of what might possibly happen, don't just think of your own happiness think of others' too. We don't realize that we sometimes hurt other people because of what we are posting of sending. For us, it's just for fun but, when you hurt others do you think they are having fun? NO. +As a daughter it affects me greatly because, every time I use it I tend to forget doing my responsibilities that I later on realize that should have done it first before doing anything else; this affects my relationship with my family, because instead of me spending time with them during family time I find myself using the internet again and because of that, sometimes I miss those times that I should've spent with them. I know that by missing my chance to be with them I can make them sad because it's not every day that I can spend my time with them, we are all busy in our own ways but we should always give our spare time to our family and friends. Using it really affects students a lot because we don't realize that we are already wasting our time that we should have used for doing school words and because of that we end up cramming that affects a big part of our grades and thus, it also affects our future in every-way that it can. But, it's your choice if you'll allow that to happen or not, will you choose to manage your time wisely or will you allow it break you slowly? Social media is one of the causes of problems between friends. It depends on how you used it because, we don't know up to what point people can be sensitive. We don't know because everyone change not only physically but emotionally. We know that when we hurt others it doesn't only affect them but everything they do that at some point we can also be affected by their doings so, we should always think about the things we do and we should be wise and sensitive enough to know when we are already hurting someone.
To sum things up, for be social media it harms us more than it benefits us. Yes, I admit that we learn a lot of things from it and we benefit from the things we learn too. But, when it harms us, it really hurts us; everyone including you, your friends, family and sometime even the people who you don't even know that are innocent. As we commit mistakes, we also learn from them and use it as a lesson that we can put into practice for our everyday lives. We learn to be responsible, yes I agree but as we become more familiar in using it we can't deny the fact that it sometimes makes us irresponsible and insensitive. And yes it help us to be able to interact with people more that can build us some of our confidence and self-esteem. But, as we build ourselves up we can't avoid also taking up the risk that we might be in danger because sometimes it can lead to crimes being committed that we all want to avoid but we can't. In everything we do we should always be mindful of every decision that we make especially at times that we need to make choices that can affect us for a life-time.
